DONINGTON PARK GRANTED PERMISSION TO HOST NATIONAL RALLY EVENTS  –  08-12-2014                                           Donington Park announced today that the circuit has been granted planning permission to host two days of national rallying per year, starting in 2015.                                                                                   The  venue has a strong rallying heritage, and featured regularly on the World Rally Championship Rally GB schedule as a Special Stage until the event moved to Wales in 2000. Rally events have not been staged at the venue since, despite holding the planning permission restricted to an WRC round, but that will now change with the new national event planning permission in place.

DONINGTON PARK TO HOST 2015 MOTO GP – 2nd September 2014
Donington Park has been elected by the Circuit of Wales and Dorna Sports as the alternative venue for the British Motorcycle Grand Prix for the 2015 event.
Whilst the Circuit of Wales is scheduled to host the British Motorcycle Grand Prix until 2024 after agreeing a five-year contract with the option for further five year extension with the Championship’s commercial rights holders, it has been decided that the series would return to the Leicestershire venue next year, before moving to the new Circuit of Wales in 2016.

2015 BTCC CALENDAR CONFIRMED – 18th August 2014
The 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship calendar has been confirmed today (18 August), as has the date and venue for its Season Launch event.
Series organiser TOCA has announced an unchanged line-up of venues where the calendar will continue to comprise of 30 races across ten events, with three races of equal distance taking place on each scheduled weekend.
Such has been the huge success of the BTCC’s recent Season Launch events that Donington Park will again hold the introductory curtain-raiser – which also includes the only official pre-season test – on 24 March 2015.
The Brands Hatch Indy circuit then commences the BTCC’s nationwide tour before the same venue hosts the season finale on its legendary Grand Prix layout more than six months later. Oulton Park will see a return to the Island layout in June.
The UK’s premier race series headlines at all of the country’s major motor sport venues with the geographical spread ensuring that hundreds of thousands of fans can catch the tin-top action close to their homes when the travelling show rolls into town.
2013 saw some of the biggest crowds in recent times and figures have continued to rise during the 2014 campaign to date. Each venue permits free admission for children – some for up to 16-year-olds – to its BTCC event, further broadening the championship’s appeal among family audiences and the next generation of fans.
ITV4 will continue to broadcast every race weekend live and in high definition, as well as via the ITV website. Regular highlights programmes will also be screened on both ITV and ITV4 following each event.

Donington Park circuit to host all five dates of official testing of FIA Formula E Championship – 10th April 2014

The FIA Formula E Championship, the world’s first fully-electric race series, has today confirmed that all of its official pre-season tests will be held at Donington Park circuit in the UK with free admission to fans.
Beginning on July 3rd, the 10 Formula E teams will be given five full test days with every one open to the public free of charge, allowing fans who pre-register via the Donington Park website unprecedented access to see and hear the 200kw (270bhp) Spark-Renault SRT_01E single-seaters in action.
The remaining tests at the Leicestershire circuit will take place on July 4th, 9th and 10th with the final session on August 19th – three weeks before the season opener in Beijing on September 13th. Teams will also have two in-season and two-post season test days with private testing strictly prohibited.
In addition to hosting all test days, Donington Park will also shortly become the new home for Formula E and its teams as construction work on its bespoke 44,000 ft² premises nears completion. The state-of-the- art headquarters – catering for more than 150 staff, engineers and team personnel – are due to open in early May with the first car deliveries arriving in mid-May.

2014 MCE British Superbike Championship Calendar Announced – 17th October 2013

The MCE British Superbike calendar for 2014 has been confirmed by series promoters MSVR following approval by the series governing body, the MCRCB.

The 2014 calendar will again comprise of 12 events across eight UK circuits, as well as a round in continental Europe (Assen)

2014 British Touring Car Championship Calendar Announced – 14th September 2013

The calendar for the 2014 MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) has been confirmed today (14 September) with the country’s most popular motor racing series set to visit nine of the UK’s premier motor sport venues.

With the championship currently enjoying huge successes both on and off the track, series organiser TOCA has produced a stabilised calendar with a proven formula for next season

Further to the confirmation of the 2014 calendar, the BTCC has also announced that its annual Media Day – which launches the new season and includes the only official pre-season test – will again take place at Donington Park after a hugely successful event at the Leicestershire venue earlier this year. This season-launching Media Day will take place on Tuesday 18th March 2014.

Donington Park Racing Limited, owners and operators of Britain’s second major race track, have today announced a significant new step in its direction under theownership of Kevin Wheatcroft, with the formation of a new alliance between the famous East Midlands circuit and the renowned leading racing club, the BRSCC, under its Chairman, Bernard Cottrell. BRSCC will be providing consultancy services focused on Donington’s relationships with the sport’s national and international governing bodies, and will be advising on the national and international race calendar planning, as well as working with Donington on future jointly organised major race and other events.

BRSCC will also now maintain an office at Donington Park.

Reigning Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champion Matt Neal called his new Honda Racing BTCC Civic “excitingly good” when he drove

it for the first time in a test behind closed doors last week.


Having had a brief initial run in the Speedworks Motorsport team’s Toyota UK Avensis at Donington Park last Friday,

Adam Morgan Racing will be joined by double champion James Thompson for his first major test at Brands Hatch tomorrow (Tuesday)
